About The Tudor Trust

Tudor is an independent endowed foundation which supports organisations working to address the many different needs of people at the margins of society, mainly in the UK. We don’t focus our funding on specific themes or programmes, but instead aim to support a wide range of people and organisations working to achieve lasting change in their communities. In 2018-2019 Tudor received just over 2,600 applications and made 311 grants totaling £17.9 million. Most of Tudor’s grant making – around 95% each year – takes place in the UK, but we also run a small programme in Zimbabwe, Kenya and Uganda.

About the role

The Head of Finance and Resources will be a key member of the Management Team which, in close collaboration with the trustees, has overall responsibility for the strategic management and development of the Trust. The Head of Finance and Resources will inherit an exemplary resources function but there are plenty of new challenges ahead, as the Trust prepares for the next stage of its journey. The new post holder will have a key role to play in developing both Tudor’s strategic vision and operational approach. There will also be lots of opportunities to work closely with the staff team and trustees, bringing your creativity and leadership both to your team and to the Trust as a whole.

About you

The Head of Finance and Resources will welcome working in a collegiate and inclusive organisation and they will need high levels of emotional intelligence and an ability to listen carefully. They will have a supportive approach and will enable Tudor, as an independent funder, to take informed, positive risks in its grant making, whilst paying attention to good governance and financial management. The applicant could be someone who is developing their career, with the potential to learn about how to lead and develop the resources function of a grant maker. Or they may be someone who has already held a similar role in another charity.

Whatever your background, we would be delighted to hear from you if you bring with you a strategic mind, a curious and open approach, sound and demonstrable financial expertise, management experience and a commitment to ensuring that Tudor continues to flourish. We know that this is a complex and varied role, so are open to providing support and development to a post holder who may not have equal levels of skill or experience across some of the non-financial aspects of the role. If you have any questions about the scope of the role, please contact our recruitment advisor Allyson Davies.
