Location: Vauxhall, London SE1

Would you like to lead Ramblers, an organisation that is working with passion and vision on behalf of walking in Britain?

Ramblers is the membership body for walking in Britain. We have over 100,000 members, a strong financial position and a talented management team. We also have a number of recent, high-profile campaigning and partnership successes to our name. Ramblers is poised to move forward with a ten-year strategic framework, by the end of which Ramblers should be secured as the “go-to” organisation for walking in Britain. Walking is an activity that we believe will become increasingly important over the coming decade for the benefit of our health, well-being and environment. Our vision is:

A country where everyone enjoys the outdoors on foot
and benefits from the experience.

Ramblers needs a new CEO to lead us in shaping the future of the Ramblers and achieving our strategic vision. There are many attractions and opportunities, including:

  • Joining an organisation that is moving into an exciting phase with the potential to galvanise the staff team, members and volunteers.
  • Building on the development of recent successes in campaigning, partnerships and funding.
  • Being poised to make a significant impact on promoting walking for health and well-being and protecting access.
  • Inheriting a sophisticated devolved structure with even more potential.

For the right person this is an exciting role and we will welcome and encourage applications from all suitably qualified persons. Whatever your motivations for wanting to be the new CEO we want to hear about them and we want to hear from you, particularly if you have:

  • The ability to lead a complex organisation through strategic delivery and a time of modernization and change.
  • An enthusiasm for the creativity offered by devolvement and collaboration between the three nations.
  • A trusting, collegiate and collaborative management style, which will bring the best out of our talented and capable senior managers.
  • A genuine appreciation of members and volunteers, and a facilitative approach and listening ear, with the ability to challenge constructively.
